don't get trouble in your mind

curling up under mom-made quilts with a good book or two, remembering Herod's reign of terror and Joseph and Mary's refugee status and recognizing again and again and again that nothing about this Incarnation was neat or pretty or particularly comforting, opening my front door to find a bag of perfectly delightful gumdrops and a neighborly christmas card, winning the lottery, mac and cheese filling the house with savory smell, driving through the still snow covered hills of franklin county, the carolina chocolate drops, em's invitations, seeing meghan horne's face and hearing her north carolinian drawl, stephanie and noel's orange kitchen and open hospitality and generally cheery and friendly and warm demeanor, spending some time with some kids, sharing some burdens, and john's table-turning advice.
